Hello World!

Welcome to my website!

Thanks for stopping by! If you’re here, it’s likely you are curious about me as an educator, researcher, and performer OR you are looking for information about secondary general music. Either way, welcome!

A few quick things about me:

  1. I love teaching music. I have worked with learners ages 4 months to 80+ years and enjoy all of them for different reasons.
  2. I taught PK-12 for seven years before going into higher ed. Most of that time was spent teaching middle school.
  3. I love teaching secondary-aged learners.
  4. I currently teach people to be music teachers (I’m a music teacher educator). I love working with the next generation of teachers and musicians, and love my university.
  5. I am a classically trained soprano but will try anything! I’m currently doing a lot of recording work for film and video game scores. It’s really fun.
  6. My research interest center around the word “community”. I’m interested in how we make music and learning spaces for people of all different backgrounds and musical interests. I have done research in culturally responsive practices, popular music, modern band, and am currently working on studies related to social justice in choral music and community views in shared online spaces (social media).
  7. Outside of teaching, performing, and researching, I am also a mom, gardener, artist, yogi, and hiker.

In this blog, I’ll post a variety of resources related to my work as a a teacher, researcher, and performer. If you are ever interested in learning more about my work or are in need of resources, please feel free to reach out! I’d love to hear from you!
